History: This Queen Anne home looks like something straight out of a fairy tale. It has a beautiful front porch, a second floor veranda, decorative shingles, leaded, beveled and stained glass windows and a square tower. It is Dayton 's best example on Queen Anne style architecture. It was built in 1886 for John Kirby and his family. Kirby worked his way up through the ranks to become the general manager of the Dayton Manufacturing Company. Like so many of the larger homes in this neighborhood, this home had been divided into several apartments and allowed to decay.
This lovely home has been totally remodeled and is now the Garnet House bed and breakfast. |
