Guided Tour: Winter in HuffmanNOTE: The following tour was prepared by a resident of Linden Ave. I have always felt that Huffman looked like a page from a fairy tale in the winter. The gingerbread really does look frosted after a winter snow. Here are some of my favorite photos from a couple of snowy days a couple of winters ago.
These homes are all on Linden Ave. After a snow, Linden takes on a muffled quiet. The cars have vanished and all that is left is the crunch of your boots as you walk through the snow, visiting neighbors.
The ribbons around the historic lighting and the snow dusting the wrought-iron fence caught my eye. I wondered how many thousands of times earlier residents of Huffman had seen the same winter scene?
One of my neighbors homes -- porch draped with bunting from Memorial Day to Labor Day, now dusted with white frosting. Even the gargoyles on the porch roof seem angelic.
See what I mean about gingerbread looking like the real thing -- here's a castle straight from a fairy tale, frosted in pink, green and white icing.
